Importance of Art In Early CHildhood Classrooms
My first degree is in art education. I can honestly say that art is very important to my teaching philosophy. I don't mean cute cut and paste crafts. I mean getting messy and experimenting with different materials. I believe art allows students to display creativity, work through emotional issues, increase self-confidence and increase fine motor strength. Sometimes art isn't something that can be taken home and hung on the fridge, but is rather an experience. I say, experiment with different mediums such as watercolors and shaving cream, play dough and markers.
